Designing an ultimate science-fiction battlecruiser

Question

What would make the ultimate science-fiction battlecruiser, excluding the Sovereign and BC-304 as default choices?

Short answer

The suggestions include an upgraded Glorious Heritage-class cruiser, Dauntless ships, and the Azhanti class; preferences differ, and no common specification is agreed.

Notes

An upgraded Glorious Heritage-class heavy cruiser from Andromeda is the first choice, partly because of its appearance and the affection attached to the ship's personality. Other panellists choose the Dauntless ships from The Lost Fleet and the Azhanti class from Traveller. Ships from House Adamant prompt a digression about apparently intelligent systems with individual hobbies, while Kitsune supplies a Warhammer 40,000 example. These are personal selections across several settings; the discussion does not establish a common performance standard or a single winning design.
