Timing sent Roberts and Abercrombie to different campaigns

A year's difference in ordering and completion helped give the sister ships distinct war records, despite their shared design and mission.

Notes

Abercrombie was ordered and completed later than Roberts, so she missed the 1942 North African landings. Her earlier dispatch toward the Indian Ocean and Far East also kept her away from Normandy in 1944. Roberts consequently accumulated a different set of battle honours even though both ships had been built for the same specialized task. Commissioning dates, transit speed, and theatre allocation can shape a warship's recorded service as strongly as design. The sisters' different records separate class capability from the contingencies that determined where each hull fought.
