U-3514, a Type XXI boat, was sunk on 12 February 1946 using Squid, depth charges and naval gunfire. Squid threw substantial explosive charges ahead of the attacking vessel. Other Deadlight boats were sunk with torpedoes, aircraft bombs or rockets. The surrendered boats gave the British an opportunity to inspect the damage their weapons caused.
