Minorca's fall brings de Crillon and French reinforcements to Gibraltar

After Minorca falls, Louis de Crillon takes over with French reinforcements, bringing greater experience but no easy answer to Gibraltar's engineering and supply advantages.

Notes

Merchant traffic continues to leak through the blockade as news arrives that Minorca has fallen and Louis de Crillon is coming to command the allied effort. De Crillon appears as a brave, experienced, and honorable professional whose earlier defence and later capture of Minorca earned respect. Even with ten additional battalions, however, he inherits a fortress that has been repeatedly reinforced and resupplied. His appointment improves allied leadership without changing the structural problem confronting the siege.
