The domestic Italian DAVIDE system and export STRALES package allow Super Rapid to fire DART ammunition. The projectile leaves the gun at a quoted 1,200 meters per second, uses canards, and can perform a reported 40-g maneuver. Its proximity fuse supports engagement as low as two meters above the sea. Together, speed, maneuvering control, and a high firing rate make repeated gun-launched intercept attempts possible against fast incoming targets.
