Dante Alighieri delivers a clean twelve-gun broadside

Four centerline triple turrets give Dante Alighieri a twelve-gun broadside without wing-turret blast striking the ship's deck or superstructure.

Notes

Dante Alighieri carried twelve 12-inch guns in four triple turrets, giving every main mounting a useful place in the broadside. None of the turrets superfired, but all were on the centerline rather than divided between the ship's sides. Firing outward reduced the danger of blast damaging the deck or superstructure. The turret-mounted secondary guns were another favorable feature. The layout shows how centerline concentration could turn the triple turret's paper firepower into a practical broadside.
