Dakara's reach and exposed location

In this Stargate account, the Dakara weapon could use the gate network to kill life across its galaxy, but its effect would not extend between galaxies through that system. Its exposed position beside an accessible gate makes the installation easy to find and inspect. A deterrent must be known to potential opponents, yet that does not require leaving its controls within their reach. An asteroid installation with a gate brought in when needed is proposed as an alternative. Keeping the weapon available against the Ori has a rationale, but its continued operation under Jaffa Council control remains a concern.
