The D class in global presence missions

Long station service and repeated wartime adaptations kept the D class useful, with Danae and Delhi surviving in service until 1948.

Notes

The D class delivered good value through long service far from home waters. Danae and Delhi remained in service until 1948, while the other survivors had gone by 1946. Global presence and imperial-policing missions rewarded range, availability, and the ability to show the flag as much as modern combat power. Those commitments kept the cruisers useful through the interwar years and forced repeated wartime adaptations after their best modernization window had passed.
