Dauntless began on the North America and West Indies Station. A grounding in Nova Scotia then cost roughly two years in rebuilding and reserve before she returned to the station and later joined the South American Division. Delhi had already served as a Baltic flagship in 1919. During Dauntless's absence, Delhi flew the flag of the Eighth Cruiser Squadron in the Caribbean and called at Panama. These deployments kept a British cruiser visible near important Atlantic routes. Dauntless's long repair also left a gap in station coverage after a single accident.
