Czechoslovakia puts its river forces under engineers

Czechoslovakia inherited Austro-Hungarian craft, divided them between the Elbe and Danube, and then consolidated them under the Fourth Engineering Regiment.

Notes

The First Czechoslovak Republic inherited most of its river craft from Austria-Hungary and divided them between Elbe and Danube sections. Both were considered important, although the Danube could accommodate vessels with greater firepower than the transport and reconnaissance craft of the Elbe. In 1921 Czechoslovakia ended its dedicated Elbe force and intended to use Danube vessels there when practical. It combined the river forces under the Fourth Engineering Regiment. Engineers then had control of complete vessels they could modify, while the inherited craft were already obsolescent by the 1920s.
