Cyber funding must support resilient networks and protection against radio-controlled threats

A £2.63 billion cyber and electromagnetic allocation combines a £2.5 billion force budget with £130 million for counter-radio-frequency protection.

Notes

The £2.5 billion allocation over four years works out at about £625 million annually. A further £130 million supports systems intended to detect and defeat radio-controlled improvised explosive devices and small uncrewed aircraft. The plan describes the cyber and electromagnetic domain as a central arena of conflict, including persistent activity before open warfare. Its promise of faster decisions depends on resilient networks and reliable access to the electromagnetic spectrum. The criticism is that the stated funding looks too small for that responsibility across an increasingly connected force.
