Glorious Heritage cruisers are the tough, flexible fighters of the Commonwealth force. Destroyers and standoff ships perform narrower functions, while the cruiser can investigate, command, fight, and show the flag on its own. This breadth explains why the class is valuable and why it resembles a warship more than Star Trek's Galaxy class. It also exposes the missing tier in Commonwealth force structure: no larger battle-focused ship is available when a threat exceeds cruiser scale.
