All-forward firepower in a pursuit engagement

The simulation shows how an all-forward gun layout can keep a slower pursuing cruiser fully engaged while its opponent maneuvers to preserve distance.

Notes

Japanese long-range torpedo attacks fail to produce decisive hits, while the British ships keep their fire-control positions and main guns oriented toward the enemy. Their arrangement lets them bring a large fraction of their armament to bear during pursuit without exposing as much broadside. Forward placement of the directors and other viewing equipment also keeps the fire-control problem clear of the funnels. The moment connects layout geometry directly to tactical behavior.
