More cruisers turn Mediterranean sea control into logistics pressure

Earlier cruiser completions let Britain replace losses, sustain Force K, and intensify attacks on Axis supply lines to North Africa.

Notes

More cruisers would let Force K replace ships lost or damaged in minefields and continue operating as a cruiser force. Without those replacements, its historical force fell back on destroyers. Sustained attacks on Axis convoys would strike directly at the North African campaign's supply problem. British forces could receive supplies around Africa and through the Red Sea to Suez, while Italian convoys had to cross the Mediterranean. If that pressure produced an early Allied victory in North Africa, ships could follow the southern Mediterranean coast between areas of friendly air cover. Malta resupply and the route through Suez to the Far East would then become easier.
