Corry's path from Channel command to the Baltic

Armar Lowry Corry's career connects service off Spain, command in the Channel, and the Baltic expedition under Charles Napier.

Notes

Armar Lowry Corry entered the navy in 1805 and rose through lieutenant and commander to captain in 1821. He commanded Barham off Spain from 1835 to 1839, then Superb in the Channel during 1844 and 1845. Promotion to rear admiral in 1852 brought command of the Western Squadron. He subsequently served as Charles Napier's second in command in the Baltic. Illness forced him home, and he never fully recovered before dying in Paris in 1855.
