Kormoran carried six 15-centimetre guns, two 3.7-centimetre weapons and five 20-millimetre Flak 30 guns. Six torpedo tubes comprised two twin deck mounts and two individual submerged tubes, with 24 torpedoes carried. The ship also carried naval mines. Kormoran was the largest auxiliary cruiser and the most recently constructed when converted, giving the disguised merchant ship substantial fighting power.
