The harbour options Peymann left unused

The defended harbour and difficult water approaches gave Peymann naval options that might at least have complicated Britain's blockade.

Notes

Copenhagen's strong land defences and open water approaches left Peymann with options short of surrender or scuttling. The Royal Navy would have had to divide its strength to impose an effective blockade on a fleet still protected inside the harbour. Danish ships might therefore have been dispersed, moved, or used to complicate the British operation. Success was never guaranteed. The criticism is that Peymann appears not to have tried the available naval alternatives.
