Why convoy escort changes the value of stealth

Stealth can hide an escort's precise position, but visible merchant ships still expose the convoy, strengthening the case for firepower and staying power.

Notes

Some stealth can obscure an escort's exact position within a convoy. The merchant ships still reveal the convoy's general location, leaving the escort to expect an attack on the ships it must protect. In that role, design compromises that increase firepower can be more useful than those that maximize concealment. Visby's sea-denial role places a different value on stealth because the corvette can strike and withdraw. A ship maintaining sea control around a convoy needs the staying power to remain in the fight.
