Sackville, Haida, and Vampire preserve Commonwealth ship types

HMCS Sackville, HMCS Haida, and Vampire frame a short comparison of Commonwealth warship preservation and the financial pressures behind Britain's losses.

Notes

HMCS Sackville survives in Canada as a Flower-class museum ship, and HMCS Haida preserves the Tribal class there. Australia also preserves Vampire, a 1949 Daring-class destroyer. These ships give visitors direct access to Commonwealth warship types that otherwise survive mainly in documents and images. Britain's weaker preservation record is set against the Treasury pressures that shaped disposal decisions. The ships that escaped disposal now determine which vessels and technologies later generations can inspect firsthand.
