From raiding commandos to an amphibious strike brigade

The commandos' wartime adaptation leads into a force-design proposal combining raiding skills, brigade firepower, and strategic mobility.

Notes

The commandos were trained for raids, but prolonged conventional missions exposed the limits of their original equipment and organization. Their evolution into the Special Service Brigade shows how a force can retain specialist skills while acquiring the strength to fight together as potent infantry. That history leads into a proposed Third Commando Brigade able to serve as an amphibious strike formation. Paired with Army strike brigades and strategic lift, it could form part of a globally deployable division rather than leaving elite units isolated from the support their missions require.
