Uncrewed task groups still need people, communications, maintenance capacity, and protected command spaces. Aviation control naturally gravitates toward a carrier, but surface and subsurface vehicles could be coordinated from a separate capital ship rather than adding still more critical functions to the carrier. Moving that surface and subsurface command function away from the carrier also avoids concentrating every critical control role in one target. In this concept, the battleship's visible crewed hull arrives with a dispersed entourage of uncrewed sensors and weapons.
