How the Colossus class refined HMS Neptune

The Colossus class keeps Neptune's twin-turret layout while adding weight, armor, range, and more efficient machinery.

Notes

A modified HMS Neptune plan provides a rough guide to the Colossus-class arrangement and its offset wing turrets, although the mast and funnel positions may not be exact. The ships keep the same gun battery, grow by roughly 350 tons, and add about an inch of armor. More efficient machinery raises range from Neptune's roughly 6,330 nautical miles to about 6,680 without increasing shaft horsepower. Colossus improves protection and endurance while retaining Neptune's armament concept. The wing-turret layout remains questionable, especially after Italian and Russian orders had adopted triple turrets.
