The airline experience behind the Nile proposal

Cobham-Blackburn Airlines combined the operator of the pioneering Khartoum-Kisumu route with Alan Cobham's experience surveying air routes in and around Africa.

Notes

Cobham-Blackburn Airlines was formed on 24 April 1928 to pursue the proposed African service. It joined North Sea Aerial and General Transport Co. Ltd. with Alan Cobham Aviation Ltd. North Sea Aerial had operated the pioneering Khartoum-Kisumu route with the de Havilland DH.50J Pelican, while Cobham's company had surveyed air routes in and around Africa. The Alexandria-to-Cape Town plan therefore drew on direct operating and survey experience.
