Coastal logistics sustain the English pursuit

Hawkins helps arrange ammunition and provisions along England's southern coast, giving the pursuing fleet a logistical advantage Spain could not match.

Notes

Effingham's battle management included preparing resupply rather than merely directing ships. Hawkins sent messages ahead so ammunition and food could be available at English coastal positions if the fleet needed to replenish and return to action. Access to Plymouth, Portsmouth, Chatham, and other supporting infrastructure allowed the English to contemplate sustained firing. The Armada, operating far from an equivalent supply network, had stronger reasons to conserve its limited stores.
