The proposed alternative makes Tiger Britain's first 15-inch-gun ship. It retains the general distribution of her historical armour while imagining protection appropriate to the heavier armament. At about 28 knots with eight 15-inch guns, this Tiger is expected to become a major influence on First World War fleet planning. Renown and Repulse would then have to be assessed against that stronger existing ship. This is a design counterfactual, not a description of Tiger as built.

A hypothetical 15-inch HMS Tiger
Giving Tiger eight 15-inch guns and corresponding protection would change the standard against which later battlecruisers were judged.
