Did the Charles F. Adams class receive a FRAM modernization?
Short answerNo. The class used the New Threat Upgrade instead, and only three US ships received the complete package before newer destroyers displaced the case for wider modernization.
NotesTattnall, Goldsborough, and Benjamin Stoddert received the full NTU, while most sisters received partial work or none as Ticonderoga cruisers and Arleigh Burke destroyers approached service. Foreign derivatives served longer, including Australian Perth-class and German Lütjens-class ships. No American example survives as a museum, so Mölders at Wilhelmshaven is the closest preserved member of the design family.
