A drone counterfactual for the Channel Dash

An explicit counterfactual proposes that remote attack aircraft sent with Swordfish could have multiplied the force opposing the German ships' 1942 passage.

Notes

The 1942 Channel Dash example is explicitly counterfactual. Remote-controlled aircraft could have attacked the German ships in the Channel while Swordfish made their own strike. Additional pilotless machines would have forced the defenders to handle more simultaneous threats and might have increased the weight of the attack. Their value came from adding strike mass without exposing another aircrew, although visual control still constrained how such a mission could be directed.
