The 1918 Cattaro mutiny gives Saint Georg a political and disciplinary history beyond its combat service. Mutineers took control of the cruiser and its executive officer was shot in the head. The revolt was suppressed after loyal pre-dreadnoughts arrived, showing how command authority could depend on control of heavier ships inside the base. After the war, Saint Georg passed to Britain under the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and was sold for breaking because the Royal Navy saw no use for it.
