The Castle-class history compiled by Norman Goodwin and edited by Steve Bush traces the service movements of individual ships. Its chronological records resemble the regular naval disposition lists known as pink slips, allowing a reader to follow where each corvette went and what it did. Dumbarton Castle provides an example, moving from working up to B5 Escort Group in April 1944. Her movements during an intervening period are unreported, with spare-escort employment offered as a probable explanation. With B5 she escorted eight convoys comprising 206 ships without a loss to enemy action. She later served with a reduced complement on air-sea rescue duties, underwent a 1946 refit and entered reserve.
