Light infantry in a simulated assault on Rome

A simulated assault on Rome rewards slower infantry movement than the player expected from real-world tactics.

Notes

An attempted Carthaginian assault on Rome exposes a mismatch between the game's mechanics and the tactics Alex Clarke expected to work. His premise was that light infantry needed to force the defences quickly because it could not sustain a prolonged fight there. The game instead rewarded slower, methodical movement. Infantry also needed to absorb enemy charges before cavalry delivered a counterattack. These are observations about a simulated battle and the tactical expectations brought to it.
