Operational exercises teach a carrier to obey the task group

A carrier stops being the protected star of a trial once exercises require it to respect escort warnings, defensive envelopes, and allied command arrangements.

Notes

Solo trials place the carrier at the center while other ships provide security around its needs. Operational workups reverse that assumption: if an anti-submarine escort reports danger, the carrier must change course, and any high-speed aviation evolution has to fit the formation's air-defence plan. Exercises with amphibious groups also reveal that a Queen Elizabeth-class ship can become the dominant command and air-power node even when the landing force was intended to lead.
