Chapter · 4:13-5:59

A five-part test for fictional capital ships

Capital ships are judged by presence, capability, operational reach, fit for the operator, and distinctive advantages rather than by firepower alone.

Notes

The framework treats a capital ship as both a fighting system and a political instrument. Presence measures whether it can make an unmistakable peacetime statement, while capability asks whether it can perform its intended mission. The remaining criteria test operational reach, support demands, fit with the operator's risks, and advantages that go beyond a simple weapons tally. Together they separate spectacle from practical military value.
