A French navy still at war and British forces in the Indian Ocean

Keeping the French navy in the war could free British forces for the Indian Ocean, making Japanese decisions beyond 1941 difficult to extrapolate.

Notes

A separate counterfactual keeps the French navy in the war and considers how that would change British fleet deployment. A large part of the Royal Navy's carriers and capital ships could then become available to operate in the Indian Ocean. From there they could interfere with Japanese plans while remaining, in this scenario's assessment, beyond easy Japanese attack. Those changed conditions are given as the reason to stop the projection at a point in 1941. Extending it further would require a new account of Japanese choices.
