A space mine as a torpedo in a canister

Would a space mine resemble a torpedo in a canister more than a traditional Second World War contact mine?

Yes. A torpedo waiting in a canister is considered the more likely form.

The proposal gives the space mine a torpedo that can leave its container. It is accepted as a more likely arrangement than a traditional contact mine. The short answer does not specify its sensors or trigger.
