The probe network has insufficient bandwidth to give the tactical officer a fully updated picture from each missile. It can still pass new orders to the missiles' onboard artificial intelligence. Later salvos repeat the earlier screen-clearing attack, then adjust to the damage already inflicted on the carriers. The surviving carrier defeats two more salvos before a mixture of intercepted and deliberately detonated missiles creates another path through its defenses. The captain can follow the communications without reconstructing exactly how the tactical officer delivers the final hits.
Notable Point ยท 2:15:08-2:17:10
Limited communications still allow missile salvos to change course
Q-probes cannot return a complete picture from every missile, but they carry enough instructions for tactical officers to reshape an attack.
