How Jutland changed Hood's protection and guns

Post-Jutland revisions increased Hood's armour, improved flash precautions, and raised gun elevation at a substantial displacement cost.

Notes

Jutland prompted a fresh examination of Hood after the initial orders had been placed. A deeper draught and slightly lower speed allowed substantial additions to protection without redesigning the whole ship. The belt increased from eight to twelve inches and the barbettes from nine to twelve, with additional deck protection. The 15-inch mountings gained 30-degree elevation, and precautions against flash reaching the magazines were revised. Together, the changes added nearly 5,000 tons and raised the stated displacement to 41,200 tons.
