Question

Are there photographs of the German Yorck battlecruisers or British Lion projects under construction?

Short answer

No verified examples are identified; some archival backgrounds are suggestive, and reconnaissance photography is proposed as a useful avenue for further research.

Notes

No verified construction photographs are identified for the German Yorck battlecruisers or British Lion projects. Some small archival photographs are considered suggestive because their dates and background slipways appear to fit, but those clues do not establish an identification. For H39, the proposed search starts with RAF reconnaissance photographs of the shipyards. In this account, that surveillance failed to reveal substantial construction, contributing to the expectation that useful images will be scarce.
