Thailand and Singapore as carrier shore-leave destinations

Why choose Thailand rather than Singapore for a carrier visit?

Thailand is judged better equipped to accommodate large groups of young sailors seeking a break after months at sea.

Singapore is farther along the route, but the comparison concentrates on the shore-leave experience. Thailand's resort spaces are considered better suited to large groups seeking recreation after a long deployment. In this assessment, Singapore suits smaller groups behaving quietly. Singapore recruits Gurkhas directly for its police rather than employing retired Gurkhas. The choice of port depends partly on how the destination manages visitors.
