Integration determines which ammunition an allied force can draw upon during operations. If British F-35s could use Meteor and compatible American aircraft could do the same, British stocks could support those aircraft when AMRAAM was unavailable. A common aircraft does not provide that flexibility on its own. The example explains why slow integration can concern American naval officers as well as allied customers.
