Question

Which universities should someone consider for war studies besides King's College London?

Short answer

Birmingham, especially Jonathan Boff, is the principal recommendation. Supervisors' availability and temperament also matter.

Notes

Birmingham is recommended as an alternative to King's College London. Clarke recommends Jonathan Boff based on their friendship and previous work together. Wolverhampton is also mentioned. For doctoral study, supervisors' availability and existing student commitments matter alongside institutional reputation. A calm supervisor is considered an important source of support during a PhD.
