Why stealth works differently across radar wavelengths

Long-wave radar may detect a low-observable target without producing the precise information needed to guide a missile.

Notes

Stealth makes detection more difficult and can shorten detection range. Camouflage, shaping, and radar-absorbent material work against particular parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. Long wavelengths such as those used by the Second World War Chain Home system may still register some targets designed to resist other wavelengths. That detection may support further investigation even when it cannot guide a missile onto the target.
