Crown Estate revenue and the Sovereign Grant

Crown Estate income goes to the government, while the Sovereign Grant and broader estimates of official royal costs are much smaller.

Notes

The figures are approximate, and the exchange does not attempt a full fiscal audit. Crown Estate revenue is put at about £1.2 billion a year, while the Sovereign Grant is described as roughly £140 million. A larger itemized estimate of royal expenses is given as about £250 million. On those numbers, the institutional estate returns several times more to the government than the monarchy receives for official duties.
