Why basketball fits a warship better than football

How practical is it to put a football pitch on a warship?

It depends on the available space, but a hard deck is less suitable for football than basketball.

A sufficiently large ship can provide space for a football pitch. The harder problem is the surface, since football players are generally accustomed to something softer than a warship's deck. Basketball suits that hard surface better. A basketball game played inside an American carrier's hangar illustrates the alternative.
