A Lunar-class cruiser contains the space of a city

Lunar, Retribution, and Gloriana examples explain how enormous fictional hulls support urban populations and very different internal movement.

Notes

A Lunar-class cruiser's several-kilometer length makes a single deck comparable to a large town. Extending that scale through many levels explains why a ship can contain separate communities whose inhabitants become lost, lose identification, or settle outside their assigned spaces. Larger battleships amplify the problem, especially when movement through the interior follows complicated routes. Gloriana-class ships are offered as an exception with a long central passage designed for a legion to march through. The fictional dimensions also permit armored fighting inside a battle barge, an example of how different these interiors are from the corridors of a real warship.
