A time traveller's list of naval decisions and lost evidence

A TARDIS visit could change shipbuilding decisions or preserve evidence from the Punic Wars, Actium, Trafalgar and Jutland.

Question

Which five historical events would you visit with a TARDIS?

Short answer

Choices include changing naval designs, saving Nelson so he could write memoirs, observing ancient battles and preserving Jutland film.

Notes

Clarke's time-travel choices include persuading Beatty to choose the F3 design, fitting small-tube boilers to the Queen Elizabeth class and asking Churchill to avoid pausing aircraft-carrier construction during World War II. Saving Nelson at Trafalgar would let him write memoirs and provide evidence beyond the mythology surrounding his death. Observing Punic War sea battles would supplement the limited accounts and bronze rams recovered from the seabed. Drach would record Actium to help resolve arguments about what happened and protect the camera film lost at Jutland. Saving Mary Rose poses a different problem: preventing her loss would also remove the wreck from which later historians learned so much. These are imagined interventions and research opportunities enabled by the TARDIS premise.
