The Starship Troopers comparison distinguishes the book's mobile infantry from ordinary foot soldiers. Soldiers operating in powered suits already perform the heavily protected fighting role that would otherwise call for tanks. The absence of conventional tanks makes more sense in that fictional force than in an adaptation depicting the troops as basic infantry.
