How does the Yuuzhan Vong invasion change if the Orinda campaign never happens?
Short answerVery little changes: the campaign's losses and experience were concentrated among small elite forces, so it neither mobilized nor prepared the mass formations needed for the much larger and very different Yuuzhan Vong war.
NotesWithout the fictional Orinda campaign, the New Republic would retain a few lost ships, including Endurance. Dragon's assessment is that combat experience there chiefly benefited established elites such as Rogue Squadron. That experience did little to prepare the mass formations needed for the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. Even wider participation would have offered only limited preparation for a different kind of enemy, beyond helping personnel overcome the initial shock of combat. Some new ship classes did receive operational testing, but the campaign did not remove the political problems affecting later preparation.
