How ship personifications turn naval memory into game lore

Would Azur Lane's ship girls easily defeat the Abyssals from Kantai Collection?

The panel does not settle the comparison; different interpretations of the characters' origins and powers make a simple strength comparison inadequate.

The proposed fight between Kantai Collection's Abyssals and Azur Lane's ship girls leads to competing interpretations of what the characters represent. One reading treats Kantai Collection as a purgatory in which idealized memories of ships confront the darker reality of their histories. Azur Lane's characters are instead discussed as manifestations of collective ideas about ships, including versions from different timelines. Those interpretations change the assumed powers and vulnerabilities of each side. The participants do not settle the encounter, since destroying an opponent need not end a conflict if its underlying idea can generate more of it. These are interpretations of fictional worlds and naval memory, rather than claims about actual ships or settled game canon.
