A surviving British cruiser does not represent every cruiser type, and a heavy cruiser remains a proposed gap to fill. The County class is one candidate. Its ships began under the older light-cruiser category before their 8-inch guns placed them in the heavy-cruiser category. A Hawkins-class ship is another choice for its unusual design.
