CV90 variants and Italy's Centauro illustrate the growing interest in fitting a 120 mm gun to a vehicle with less protection than a conventional tank. Such a vehicle need not be armoured against the weapon it carries. Its appeal depends on the operator's requirements and how well it fits the existing force. Anti-tank guided missiles and FPV drones also require substantial logistical support, so their ability to destroy a tank does not settle which system is easiest to sustain. Tanks and guided weapons require different supply arrangements.

CV90, Centauro, and the tradeoffs of lighter gun vehicles
Lighter vehicles with tank-sized guns trade protection for a better fit with particular force requirements, while guided weapons carry logistical demands of their own.
